How the referral process works

Four steps. Clear and fast.

  1. I

    Contact us directly

Call or email our admissions team with the basics of the case. Gernot personally handles admissions calls and can often give you a clinical fit assessment in the first conversation.

  2. II

    Clinical review

We review the case profile including presenting conditions, substances involved, prior treatment history, clinical complexity and the specific needs of the client. We will tell you honestly whether CRTC is the right fit.

  3. III

    Client and family briefing

Once fit is confirmed, we provide information packages, virtual tours of both centers and direct conversations with the client and family. We understand this transition often needs careful handling.

  4. IV

    Admission and arrival

We coordinate the logistics of arrival including airport transfer. On arrival clients undergo a comprehensive multidisciplinary evaluation before the treatment plan is finalized.

What to include in a referral

The information that helps us make a fast and accurate clinical assessment

You do not need to have a full clinical package ready before contacting us. A brief overview of the following is sufficient for an initial conversation:

  • Primary presenting substance or substances
  • Co-occurring mental health diagnoses or suspected presentations
  • Prior treatment history including centers attended and outcomes
  • Current level of motivation and resistance to treatment
  • Family situation and who is driving the admission decision
  • Nationality and location for logistics planning
  • Preferred program length and timeline if known
  • Any significant medical considerations

We treat adults 18 and above. We do not treat stand-alone eating disorders as a primary condition and are not the appropriate setting for active psychosis or schizophrenia. For all other presentations please reach out and we will assess fit directly.

Documentation and clinical handoff

A smooth clinical handoff supports the best outcomes for your client

We welcome any clinical documentation you are able to share including previous treatment records, psychiatric evaluations, medical history and current medication lists. This helps our clinical team prepare an individualized treatment plan before the client arrives.

We also provide referring professionals with appropriate clinical updates during the client's stay where the client has given consent, and can coordinate with your team on discharge planning where relevant.

Program and pricing

A full continuum under one methodology

Both centers run on a single clinical model, from medical detox through aftercare.

Program

CRTC operates two residential centers in Costa Rica under a single proprietary methodology: 4 Phases 1 Experience. Medical detox through residential treatment, outpatient and aftercare are all available within the same program.

Payment and insurance

CRTC is a private pay treatment center. We do not operate as an in-network insurance provider. However we assist clients in navigating out-of-network PPO reimbursement claims by providing supporting documentation and guidance where applicable.
