Depression
Not just sadness. A clinical condition that affects sleep, energy, motivation, cognition, relationships and the capacity to experience pleasure. We treat the full picture.
At CRTC we treat mental health conditions as primary diagnoses in their own right. Not as secondary concerns. Not as things to manage around something else. As the full focus of a serious, individualized and immersive treatment program.
Depression is not weakness. Anxiety is not something you can simply think your way out of. Trauma does not resolve on its own. Burnout is not a character flaw. These are genuine clinical conditions that affect the brain, the body, the relationships and the life of everyone they touch.
For many people mental health treatment has meant medication management from a GP, occasional therapy sessions or a system that treats symptoms without ever addressing the underlying causes. You may have been managing for years. Holding things together while quietly deteriorating.
You are not here because you have failed to cope. You are here because what you have tried has not been enough. And you deserve something that actually is.
CRTC treats the following mental health conditions as primary diagnoses:
Not just sadness. A clinical condition that affects sleep, energy, motivation, cognition, relationships and the capacity to experience pleasure. We treat the full picture.
Generalized anxiety, panic disorder, social anxiety and related presentations. We address both the symptoms and the underlying drivers.
Unprocessed trauma is at the root of many mental health presentations. EMDR, somatic work and trauma-informed therapy are central to how we work with this.
Chronically depleted, emotionally exhausted, unable to function at the level you once could. Burnout requires more than rest. It requires real clinical support.
A complex condition requiring careful psychiatric management alongside psychotherapy. Our team has the clinical expertise to hold both.
Often undiagnosed or poorly managed in adults. We treat ADHD with a comprehensive approach that goes beyond medication alone.
When you arrive our multidisciplinary team conducts a thorough evaluation from multiple professional perspectives. Clinical psychology, psychiatry and medicine all contribute to understanding your specific situation before anything is decided.
From that evaluation we build a treatment plan specific to you. Not a standard protocol adapted slightly. Something genuinely built for who you are, what you are carrying and what you need to heal.
Our therapeutic approach draws from CBT, DBT, EMDR, somatic work, mindfulness, breathwork, yoga, forest bathing, sound therapy, adventure therapy, family therapy, psychoeducation and integrative recovery through our CRTC x VINOVA alliance.
Mental health treatment at CRTC begins with a comprehensive psychiatric evaluation.
Our addiction psychiatrists assess your full clinical picture: your diagnosis history, current medications, previous treatments and what has and has not worked before.
Psychiatric support is not a one-time assessment. It is an ongoing part of your treatment throughout your time at CRTC. Medication management where clinically appropriate, regular psychiatric check-ins and close coordination with the broader clinical team are all part of how we work.
We do not believe medication is always the answer. We do believe that for some conditions and some people, appropriate psychiatric support is an important part of what makes treatment effective. Our team will be honest with you about what we recommend and why.
The mountains of Atenas or the heart of San José. A different pace. Real distance from the environment, the pressures and the patterns that have been feeding the condition.
Days with shape and purpose. Individual therapy with someone who truly knows you. Psychiatric support that is responsive and present. Holistic practices that support the nervous system, the body and the spirit alongside the clinical work. A community of people who understand without judgment.
And slowly, something shifts. The weight becomes lighter. The clarity begins to return. The idea that things can genuinely be different starts to feel real.
Recovery from mental health conditions takes time and it takes real support. At CRTC you have both.

Readiness looks different for everyone. Some people arrive certain. Others arrive with doubt still present. What matters is not that you have everything figured out before you call. What matters is that somewhere inside you, something is ready to try.

No. You do not need a formal diagnosis before reaching out or arriving. Our psychiatric team will conduct a thorough evaluation and identify what is present and how to address it.
We treat depression, anxiety, trauma and PTSD, burnout, bipolar disorder and ADHD as primary conditions. We do not treat active psychosis, schizophrenia or standalone eating disorders as primary presentations.
Medication is one clinical tool among many. Our psychiatric team will evaluate whether medication is appropriate for your specific situation. It is never the only approach and it is always part of a broader treatment plan.
Our programs run at 30, 60, 90 and 120 days. The average length of stay is 60 to 90 days. The right length depends on the condition, its severity and what the clinical team observes during your program.
Yes. Family therapy is available and we actively encourage family involvement at appropriate stages. We have dedicated resources for families.
The distance from your usual environment, the pace of life and the natural setting of Costa Rica all actively support nervous system regulation, emotional restoration and the deep work of mental health recovery. The environment is not incidental. It is part of the treatment.
