We understand

We have seen what marijuana does to a person's life when it stops being a choice

Marijuana addiction is one of the most misunderstood dependencies. Because the substance is common, because it is increasingly legal in many places and because the physical withdrawal is less dramatic than other substances, many people spend years dismissing or minimizing what is happening to them.

But for many people marijuana has quietly become the way they manage anxiety, boredom, social discomfort, sleep, emotional pain and everyday stress. Without it everything feels harder. And the idea of stopping creates a kind of fear that is hard to explain to people who have not experienced it.

You do not need to justify why you are here. If marijuana has been taking more from your life than it has been giving, that is enough. You deserve real support.

How we treat it

We treat the person. Not just the marijuana dependency.

Marijuana addiction is primarily psychological and requires therapeutic work that addresses the underlying reasons the substance became so central to daily life.

What it was doing

Your main tool for managing

For many people marijuana has been the primary coping mechanism for anxiety, depression, social difficulty, emotional dysregulation or unprocessed trauma. Stopping without addressing those underlying conditions leaves the person without their main tool for managing and significantly increases the risk of relapse.

Built for you

A treatment plan specific to you

At CRTC we build a treatment plan specific to you. Your history, your patterns, what marijuana has been doing for you and what it has been taking away. From that understanding we build something that actually addresses the full picture.

Built from the inside

Our founder knows this journey personally

CRTC was not built from a business plan. It was built by someone who lived through addiction and recovery himself. Who sat where you are sitting now. Who experienced the gaps, the fragmentation, the programs that almost worked. And who made a promise to himself to build something that actually did.

Medical detox

The first days can be harder than people expect

Marijuana withdrawal is not medically dangerous in the way that alcohol or benzodiazepine withdrawal can be. But it is real and can be uncomfortable.

Irritability, sleep disruption, anxiety, low mood and intense cravings are common in the first days after stopping.

At CRTC our clinical team supports you through this phase. Your comfort is managed. The symptoms are monitored. And the clinical and therapeutic work begins from the very first day so that the early discomfort is met with real support rather than endured alone.

Many people are surprised by how much support they need in those first days. We are ready for it.

What recovery looks like here

Not just stopping. Building a life worth protecting.

The mountains of Atenas or the heart of San José. A genuinely different environment from the one where marijuana became part of every routine.

Days with shape and purpose. Therapy that truly knows you. A team that takes marijuana dependency seriously without judgment. A community of people who understand. And the space to discover what life feels like when you are not managing everything through a substance.

Recovery lived while you are still supported. So that when you leave, it is not theoretical. It is something you have already begun.

Their words. Their journey.

You are not alone in what you are carrying

Marijuana dependency rarely arrives on its own

For many people marijuana has been managing something else for a long time. Anxiety that was never properly treated. Depression that the marijuana temporarily lifted. Trauma that needed numbing. Social anxiety that made connection feel impossible without it.

At CRTC we are equipped to address both the dependency and whatever has been driving it at the same time. Nothing gets left behind in your recovery.

Frequently asked questions

Questions about marijuana treatment at CRTC

Do I need to detox before arriving?

No. Our medical detox program is the first phase of treatment and happens on site under full clinical supervision. You do not need to have stopped using before you arrive.

Is marijuana really addictive?

Yes. While marijuana does not create the same physical dependency as alcohol or opioids, it does create real psychological dependency for many people. Research estimates that approximately 9% of people who use marijuana develop dependency, rising to around 17% for those who start in adolescence. The withdrawal symptoms, while not medically dangerous, are real and can be difficult without proper support.

How long does treatment take?

Our programs run at 30, 60, 90 and 120 days. The average length of stay is 60 to 90 days. The full 120-day program is required to qualify for the 30-day relapse guarantee.

Can my family be involved in my treatment?

Yes. Family therapy is part of our program and we actively encourage family involvement at appropriate stages. We have dedicated resources for families.
