CRTC has two residential treatment locations in Costa Rica. San José (Rohrmoser): Located in the upscale neighborhood of Rohrmoser in San José, known for convenience and proximity to key services. Atenas (Riverside): Located in Guacalillo, Atenas, Costa Rica, a private mountain retreat approximately 45 minutes from the airport.

San José Rohrmoser has a maximum capacity of 18 patients. Atenas Riverside has a maximum of 10 patients. Combined capacity across both centers is 28 patients. This scale is a deliberate clinical decision. It allows the team to genuinely know every client.

CRTC treats adults 18 and above with substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health conditions. We work with alcohol addiction, cocaine, opioids, benzodiazepines, methamphetamine, marijuana, prescription drugs, polysubstance use and dual diagnosis presentations involving depression, anxiety, trauma, PTSD, burnout, bipolar disorder and ADHD.

We do not treat stand-alone eating disorders as a primary condition and are not the appropriate setting for active psychosis or schizophrenia.

We offer 30, 60, 90 and 120-day programs. The average length of stay is 60 to 90 days. The full 120-day program covers all four phases of the 4 Phases 1 Experience methodology: medical detox, residential treatment, outpatient and aftercare. The 30-day relapse guarantee applies to clients who complete the full 120-day program.

All fees are all-inclusive: meals prepared daily, accommodation, 24/7 supervision, full clinical treatment, individual and group therapy, psychiatric evaluation and support, holistic and experiential modalities, field trips and activities, transportation to English-speaking 12-step meetings, Wi-Fi, gym, yoga and meditation areas, and airport transfer on arrival.

Yes. Medical detox is the first phase of treatment and happens on site under full clinical supervision by our medical and nursing team. You do not need to have stopped using before you arrive.

Yes. Dual diagnosis treatment is a core part of our program. We regularly treat clients with addiction alongside depression, anxiety, trauma and PTSD, burnout, bipolar disorder and ADHD. Our multidisciplinary team includes addiction psychiatrists specifically for complex presentations.

San José Rohrmoser: $8,950 per month shared room · $9,950 per month private room. Atenas Riverside: $14,350 per month private room (no porch) · $14,950 per month private room with porch. All fees are all-inclusive except medications required during detox.

CRTC is a private pay treatment center. We do not work with insurance carriers directly. However we assist clients in navigating out-of-network PPO reimbursement claims where applicable by providing supporting documentation.

Fly into San José International Airport (SJO). Direct flights are available from Los Angeles, San Francisco, Houston, Miami, Fort Lauderdale, New York, Dallas and Toronto. Our team meets every arriving client at the airport and transfers them directly to their center. Airport transfer is included.

Seven days of comfortable clothing, your current prescription medications in the original pharmacy bottle with a doctor-issued medication list, and personal documents including a valid passport. Device use is managed by clinical staff.

US and Canadian citizens do not need a visa for stays of up to 90 days. Your passport should be valid for at least 6 months beyond your travel date. Citizens of other countries should check entry requirements with the Costa Rican consulate.

Yes. Family therapy is part of our program. We maintain regular communication with designated family contacts throughout treatment. Family therapy sessions are conducted remotely to accommodate distance and time zones.

Yes, at appropriate stages of treatment. San José International Airport has direct flights from major US and Canadian cities. The clinical team advises on timing and logistics.

Contact with family is managed according to what is clinically appropriate at each stage of treatment. Our team maintains regular communication with designated family contacts and coordinates family therapy sessions remotely.

If relapse occurs within 6 months of completing the full 120-day program, the door is always open. Thirty days at no extra program fee. This applies to clients who have been discharged in good standing by the clinical team. Re-entry is subject to bed availability and unanimous staff approval. Travel to and from Costa Rica is not included.
