What is medical detox

Detox is not punishment. It is the first act of care.

Medical detox is the process of clearing substances from the body under clinical supervision. For many substances this process comes with withdrawal symptoms that range from uncomfortable to medically serious. Managing those symptoms safely, with real professional support, is what separates medical detox from trying to stop alone.

At CRTC medical detox is not a gate you pass through before the real treatment begins. It is the first chapter of recovery. The moment a client arrives, the clinical relationship begins. The team is present from the first hour. And the work of understanding who this person is and what they need starts immediately.

Substances we detox

Every substance. One experienced team.

Our medical team is experienced in managing detox from the full range of substances. Each substance creates different withdrawal patterns and different clinical requirements. We address all of them.

  • Alcohol

One of the most medically serious withdrawals. Seizures, severe anxiety and other complications are real risks without proper supervision. Our medical team manages alcohol detox with clinical precision and around-the-clock monitoring.

  • Opioids and heroin

Intensely uncomfortable physically and psychologically. Medication-assisted support is available where clinically appropriate. Our team manages the timeline safely.

  • Benzodiazepines

One of the most dangerous withdrawals. Tapering protocols are essential and managed by our medical team with careful clinical oversight.

  • Cocaine, meth and stimulants

Primarily psychological withdrawal. Severe depression, fatigue and cravings are common. Clinical and psychiatric support begins from the first day.

  • Polysubstance

Multiple substances create multiple withdrawal patterns and timelines. Our team builds a detox protocol specific to each combination.

  • Prescription drugs, marijuana and other substances

All assessed individually and managed according to the specific clinical requirements of each substance.

Built from the inside

Our founder knows this journey personally

CRTC was not built from a business plan. It was built by someone who lived through addiction and recovery himself. Who sat where you are sitting now. Who experienced the gaps, the fragmentation, the programs that almost worked. And who made a promise to himself to build something that actually did.

Gernot personally answers admissions calls. When you reach out you are not talking to a call center. You are talking to someone who genuinely understands where you are right now.

What comes after detox

Detox is the beginning. Not the destination.

At CRTC detox flows directly into residential treatment. There is no gap. No handoff to a different facility. No starting over with a new team that does not know you. The same team that managed your detox continues with your residential treatment. Your individualized plan is already being built while detox is still in progress.

  1. I

    Medical detox

One of the most dangerous moments in recovery is immediately after detox ends. The body has cleared. The withdrawal has passed. And without a proper clinical program to step into, the risk of relapse is high.

  2. II

    Residential treatment

Detox flows directly into residential treatment, where the deeper clinical work happens. The same team, the same plan, no starting over.

  3. III

    Outpatient

As you step back toward daily life, the structure of residential gives way to outpatient support. Still with the same team beside you.

  4. IV

    Aftercare

One journey. One team. All the way through.

Whoever brought you here

You will not face this alone

For you

You are here for yourself

You are here for yourself. You may be afraid of what withdrawal feels like. That fear is valid. What we can tell you is that with our team beside you from the first hour, you will not face it alone.

Their words. Their journey.

Frequently asked questions

Questions about medical detox at CRTC

Do I need to stop using before I arrive?

No. Our medical detox team manages the process from the moment you arrive. You do not need to have reduced or stopped your use before coming. In many cases arriving while still using is clinically safer because it allows our team to manage the transition under supervision.

Is medical detox dangerous?

For some substances, particularly alcohol and benzodiazepines, withdrawal without medical supervision can be dangerous. Opioid withdrawal is not typically life-threatening but can be severely uncomfortable. Our medical team manages the risks for all substances with clinical precision and around-the-clock monitoring.

How long does detox take?

Detox duration varies by substance, dosage, duration of use and individual health. Alcohol detox typically takes 5 to 7 days. Opioid detox is usually 5 to 10 days. Benzodiazepine detox can take longer due to tapering requirements. Our medical team will give you a realistic timeline based on your specific situation.

Will I be given medication during detox?

Medication-assisted support is available where clinically appropriate. Our medical team evaluates each patient individually and determines whether medication support is indicated based on the substance, the severity of dependency and the individual's health picture.

What happens after detox?

Detox flows directly into our residential treatment program. The same team that managed your detox continues with your residential care. Your individualized treatment plan is already being built during the detox phase so the transition is seamless.

Is detox included in the program fee?

The detox program is included in your treatment fee. Medical detox substances, such as medications required during the withdrawal process, are charged separately if required.

Can my family be informed of how I am doing during detox?

Yes. With appropriate consent we maintain communication with designated family contacts throughout the detox process. We understand how important it is for families to know their loved one is safe.
