For Interventionists · Costa Rica Treatment Center

A center you can trust to receive your client and do the work that follows

If you are an interventionist looking for a residential placement for a client, we want you to know exactly what CRTC is, what we treat and how we work. The quality of a placement depends on the quality of the match. We would rather help you make the right decision than the fast one.

Why interventionists choose CRTC

The things that matter to you as a professional

Genuine clinical depth

CRTC is not a luxury retreat with therapeutic add-ons. It is a multidisciplinary clinical program that includes addiction psychiatry, individual therapy, family therapy, medical detox and a full range of evidence-based and holistic modalities. Your client receives real treatment, not a comfortable holding pattern.

No-expulsion philosophy

When a client becomes difficult, resistant or dysregulated after an intervention many centers discharge them. Our philosophy is the opposite. We stay engaged through the hard moments because that is when the most important work happens. This means you can refer a client with ambivalence or resistance and trust that they will not be discharged at the first difficult moment.

Deliberate scale

A maximum of 18 patients at San José and 10 at Riverside means every client is genuinely known by the clinical team. Interventionists tell us that the intimacy of the program is one of the most important factors in why clients who have previously failed in larger institutional settings do well at CRTC.

Two distinct environments for two distinct profiles

San José Rohrmoser suits younger clients who need structure, containment and a clinical focus. Atenas Riverside suits more mature, higher-resourced clients who need privacy, nature and a retreat-style environment. This means you can refer different client types to CRTC and find the right fit for both.

The founder understands this work firsthand

Gernot built CRTC from lived recovery experience. He personally takes admissions calls. He understands what interventionists are navigating, what clients look like immediately after an intervention and what that moment requires from the receiving center.

How we work with interventionists

Fast access. Direct communication. Clinical collaboration.

When you reach out about a client, the placement moves fast and stays personal from the first call.

We understand that the window immediately after a successful intervention is narrow. A client who agrees to treatment today may be less certain tomorrow. Speed and clarity in the placement process matters.

When an interventionist contacts us we prioritize a direct conversation about the specific client. Gernot handles these calls personally. We can typically provide a clinical fit assessment and bed availability confirmation within the same conversation.

We welcome clinical briefing notes and prior treatment records from the interventionist's team and can coordinate with you on logistics, timeline and any specific clinical considerations that affect the admission.

Which clients are the right fit

An honest guide to who does well at CRTC

The two centers are built for different client profiles. What predicts a strong outcome at San José is not the same as what predicts one at Riverside.

Younger clients who need structure and family

Younger adults, often economically supported by family. Clients who need containment, structure and foundational recovery work. Presentations including alcohol, cocaine, stimulants, benzodiazepines, prescription drugs and dual diagnosis involving depression, anxiety and emotional dysregulation. Clients with high resistance or limited insight where family is driving the admission.

Professionals who need privacy and depth

Adults 35 to 55, often professionals, executives or high-functioning individuals. Clients with privacy as a priority. Prior treatment history with incomplete outcomes. Complex presentations including entrenched addiction, chronic relapse, burnout, trauma and high-functioning deterioration. Clients who are self-directed or whose admission is partner-supported.

When CRTC may not be the right fit

Clients requiring stand-alone eating disorder treatment as a primary condition, active psychosis or schizophrenia, or medical needs that require proximity to specialist hospital care beyond what our clinical team can manage. Please contact us directly if you are unsure.
